Vision Correction
The Clearview Institute has a strict policy when it comes to our laser equipment.
We insist on using the only fourth generation lasers that are available on the market.
So you can rest assured knowing that your procedure will be performed successfully.
The lasers physically correct your prescription during surgery and reduce or eliminate
your dependency on glasses or contacts. Which laser we use on you, will depend on
the nature of your eye and your specific needs.
Mel 80™ Excimer Laser
Manufactured by Carl Zeiss, the Mel 80 is the latest refractive Excimer technology.
It allows for super fast laser procedures with quick recovery times and less stress
for you.
With the Mel 80, your correction can be made without the need to dilate your pupil.
The equipment allows us to customize your vision using laser WaveLight optimized
and customized technology, the most ideal platform for performing laser surgery.
What's more, the Mel 80 has a very small laser spot, allowing for the finest corrections
even of higher order aberrations/ imperfections without losing the smoothness most
people have on the surface of their eyes.
Mel 80 Features
- Suitable for both Wavefront guided and customized procedures
- Ultra fast eyetracker system
- Maximum 10 mm treatment area
- Simple to operate
- Extremely small spot size and Gaussian beam profile
- Often used in conjunction with the Visumax System
Allegretto WAVE™ Excimer Laser
The first Excimer Laser used worldwide to perform a Wavefront guided LASIK procedure,
the Allegretto comes equipped with the Allegretto Wave Analyzer and the Allegretto
Wave Topolyzer. The Wavefront Analyzer measures the amount of distortion that has
occurred prior to the light entering the eye and after going through the eye. Once
the information is collected, it is transferred to the laser for a customized treatment
that is tailored to you.
Allegretto Features
- Eyetracker with a sample rate of at least 250 Hz
- Beam size is less than 1mm
- Provides a wide treatment range of optical zones from 6mm to 8mm pupils
- Gaussian beam profile produces the smoothest corneal surface of all laser beam profiles
Visumax® System
Manufactured by Carl Zeiss, the Visumax System provides smooth and precise flap
cutting, an integral part of refractive laser surgery. This bladeless technology,
combined with the capabilities of the Mel 80 Excimer laser, allows the surgeon to
complete the full refractive procedure without the need to move the patient.
The Visumax System is the most precise flap cutter on the market and it uses less
pressure to fixate the eye. That means you will not blackout temporarily during
the procedure.
The Clearview Institute is proud to be the only eye clinic in Canada currently using
this system.
Visumax Features
- Docking onto the cornea only
- Minimal increase in eye pressure during the procedure
- Vision is maintained throughout the procedure
- Lowest amount of energy used of any femtosecond laser
WASCA® Vision Analyzer
Manufactured by Carl Zeiss, the Wasca Vision Analyzer is one of the leading diagnostic
instruments of its kind. It provides essential data for vision correction planning,
simulating the effect of a patient's measured Wavefront aberrations and comparing
this to the patient's own assessment of their vision. The Wavefront aberrations
are measured using a Wavefront sensor that maps out the unique characteristics of
your eye.
The Wasca Analyzer lets you measure pupil dilation, quickly and gently. The eye
can be measured in its most natural state without constriction. And with an extremely
short measuring time, we are able to eliminate the inaccuracies that are often caused
by eye movements during measurement.
Wasca Features
- High resolution Shack-Hartman Wavefront sensor with sensor resolution of 210u and
1452 measuring points
- Extremely short measuring time of 13 milliseconds
- Captures multiple structural reference points on the eye
- Unparalleled autorefraction capability
Whitestar Signature Phaco Unit
Manufactured by Advanced Medical Optics (AMO), the Whitestar Signature Phaco Unit
is designed to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment for patients.
Used to break up the lenses in the eye, this unit features a number of improvements
on the original unit developed by AMO. For instance, it is the only phaco platform
that allows the surgeon to use a peristaltic or Venturi pump, a choice that provides
flexibility during surgery.
Whitestar Signature™ Phaco Unit Features
- Revolutionary Fusion™ Dual Pump Fluidic system for improved irrigation
- User friendly wireless foot pedal and touch screen
- Strong tuning and better recognition of internal fluctuations
- Advanced Chamber Stabilization Environment protects the anterior chamber
INFINITI® Phaco Unit
Manufactured by Alcon Laboratories, INFINITI Phaco Units are ultrasound devices
that are used to break up the lenses in the eye. The surgeon uses a small, 40 gm
handpiece that has three different modes of cataract removal. It's the only device
of this kind in the industry. The unit features a fluid based aqualase platform
that dramatically reduces the potential for complications.
INFINITI Phaco Unit Features
- Tri-modal energy delivery
- Dynamic rise time, allowing the surgeon to customize aspiration flow rate
- Fluid management system allows for unique pressure sensing capability
- Real time fluid pressure monitoring to enhance stability in the chamber
Stellaris™ Vision Enhancement System
Recently introduced by Bausch & Lomb, this phaco unit provides a platform for either
biaxial or coaxial micro-incision cataract surgery. The Stellaris' EQ Fluidics Management
technology precisely controls the balance of aspiration and irrigation, making it
a very stable device. And its phaco handpiece has six piezoelectric crystals that
provide smoother power delivery.
Stellaris Vision Enhancement System Features:
- Touch screen for easy and fast setup
- Foot pedal with wireless Bluetooth capability
- StableChamber tubing introduces resistance to fluid outflow
- Luer lock prevents inadvertent disconnection during surgery
GALILEI™ Dual Scheimflug Analyzer
Manufactured by Clarion Medical Technologies™, the GALILEI Dual Scheimpflug
Analyzer sets the standard for diagnosis, biometry and management of cataract and
refractive surgery. It is a highly precise optical system for corneal tomography
and three-dimensional analysis of the anterior eye segment. And it furnishes highly
accurate, precise curvature and elevation data.
GALILEI Dual Scheimflug Analyzer Features:
- Compact design saves operating room space
- High resolution Scheimpflug images
- Analyses crystalline lens thickness
- Measures corneal and lens densitometry and pupillometry
Humphrey® ATLAS 991 Tomographer
Part of the CRS Master manufactured by Carl Zeiss and housed at the Clearview Institute,
the Humphrey ATLAS 991 Tomographer is an intuitive user-friendly system that is
ideal for pathology detection and corneal refractive surgery management. It provides
true elevation, irregularity and trending tools for simple and accurate corneal
analysis.
Humphrey ATLAS 991 Tomographer Features:
- 22 ring Placido cone provides larger limbus-to-limbus field of view
- Patented Cone-of-Focus™ for superior electronic alignment
- SmartCapture™ Image Analysis Technology analyzes multiple images during alignment
and automatically selects the highest quality image
- Integrated, ergonomic design
iTrace™
Manufactured by Tracy Technologies, the iTrace Combination Ray Tracing Aberrometer/Topographer
provides a unique analysis that subtracts corneal from total aberrations in order
to isolate the internal aberrations of the eye. Surgeons can use this information
when planning surgical procedures such as refractive lensectomies, AKs, Accommodative
and Multifocal IOLs and for post-op evaluations. Plus, this information may be used
to recommend the best vision correction treatment.
iTrace Features:
- Projects 256 near-infrared laser beams into the eye to measure forward aberration
- Provides auto-refraction, corneal topography, ray tracing aberrometry, pupillometry
and auto-keratometry
- Compare day and night vision thanks to autorefraction with multi-zone Analysis
- Track changes in visual function over time
